Sorelle Lo Re Agricultural society was born from the idea of a family who, through the stories of the older ones, inherited the passion and love for the earth and for nature.
In the early 1900s, our great-grandparents, Biagio and Domenica Lo Re, moved to America to seek their fortune. There they began to cultivate the land and, thanks to their sacrifices and work, they opened a fruit and vegetable shop in Boston.
In 1920 Biagio, Domenica and their 6 children decided to return to Isnello, their small town of origin located at the foot of the Madonie mountains.
Through the purchase of a small piece of land in the locality of "Fiume", described by their grandparents as "the earthly paradise", they began to cultivate the products of the earth with commitment and devotion.
From the stories of the past that land repaid the commitment and care given to it with a great abundance of fruits and vegetables which, in addition to allowing a dignified life for the Lo Re family, also managed to support the people who worked with them and in some way also those , especially during the years of World War II, lived in poverty.
This devotion has reached us, the generation of technology, through the stories of grandmother Giosy who has been able to make us understand the respect for the earth, the importance of the fruits of a tree, the energy and tenacity of a spontaneous plant. His cuisine, based on the use of poor but genuine and tasty foods, has always been the link between tradition and family, between past and present, between the use of resources and the parsimony of energy. In his dishes and notebooks, caskets of recipes handed down from generation to generation, one perceives the tradition, respect and love for the land that his father Biagio and his mother Domenica passed on to her during their lives.
We are a small family business, which is working hard to recover the original values that working the land can give and to enhance the traditional genuine products that our territory can give us.Our commitment is to produce vegetables, fruit, legumes and offer native, fresh, organic and seasonal products grown in the "old way", without the use of chemicals, with the intention of bringing back to the table the flavors of the past and authenticity which, unfortunately, is difficult to find today.
Our goal is to give life to an economic reality with a partial return to the past, but using the techniques of the present for a projection towards the near future. In this reality we will strive to make naturalness appreciated, with the vision of the balanced use of the environment and the territory that hosts us through sustainable rural development.
