Marianapoli saffron is obtained from genuine lands and has been produced for about 20 years on previously uncultivated land that guarantees greater taste properties to the product.

The processing is totally manual, the drying takes place through professional dryers that guarantee 85% humidity.

Saffron is an antioxidant with antispasmodic characteristics and has a vitamin C content higher than 100% compared to orange and therefore has high anti-flu and respiratory disease properties thanks to the active ingredient present in crocin.

Saffron in Sicily is slowly being rediscovered and re-evaluated. There is evidence from around 3000 years ago when it was brought by the Greeks who used it to color their clothes.
Initially it was used as a bargaining chip between Greeks and populations who lived in Sicily. Then there was a stalemate and it was produced only in central Italy, used by the Romans as a poison to kill (in large quantities).
Only later was its use in the kitchen discovered.
Saffron was used by Cleopatra to take baths or by Carlo Magno to dye her hair.
