Description
Etna Bianco DOC Superiore – Contrada Villagrande is a wine that tells the story of the most authentic and volcanic Sicily. It is born in Milo, in the heart of Etna’s south-eastern slope, at 700 meters above sea level, where the sandy soil of volcanic origin and the mountain climate combine to create a unique microcosm, ideal for growing Carricante, Etna’s great white grape variety.
Made from 90% Carricante and 10% native Etna varieties, this wine is the result of precise, respectful viticulture. The Guyot-trained vines, with 7,000 vines per hectare, produce a limited yield of 40 hectoliters per hectare, ensuring extraordinary aromatic and mineral concentration.
Fermentation takes place in stainless steel, preserving the purity and fragrance of the fruit, and bottling occurs about 10 months after harvest, allowing the wine to develop its distinctive character.
To the eye, it presents a pale, brilliant straw-yellow color, dense and luminous. On the nose, it releases persistent notes of white flowers and pale-fleshed fruit, harmonious and refined. On the palate, it captivates with its vibrant acidity, pronounced minerality and a long, persistent finish — unmistakable traits of wines from Etna’s eastern slope.
It is a long-lived wine, capable of evolving magnificently over time, gaining balance and complexity. Young, it offers freshness and tension; with the years, it becomes enriched with honeyed, smoky and saline notes, turning into a white wine of extraordinary elegance.
