Description
Nerello Mascalese by Tenute Orestiadi is an elegant, authentic red wine, an expression of the mineral richness and generosity of Western Sicily’s sandy red soils. A native grape variety among the island’s most representative, Nerello Mascalese is interpreted here with a refined style that combines tradition and modernity.
The grapes are harvested in the first ten days of September, upon reaching full phenolic maturity, and undergo about two weeks of maceration at controlled temperature, to achieve a perfect balance of color, aroma and structure. After fermentation, the wine ages in steel and then in wood for 2-4 months, gaining softness and aromatic depth.
To the eye, it presents a brilliant ruby red color. On the nose, it opens with intense notes of red berries, currant and cherry, enriched by spicy and licorice hints. On the palate, it is soft and harmonious, with a balanced structure and an elegant, persistent finish.
A versatile, refined wine, ideal to accompany red meat dishes, semi-aged cheeses and flavorful first courses.
