Description
Mamertino Rosso D.O.C. has its roots in Sicily’s millennia-old history and in the legendary people of the Mamertines, mercenaries devoted to the god Mars who, settling in the hills around Milazzo, introduced the cultivation of a prized vine.
This wine, already appreciated in Roman times and mentioned by Julius Caesar in De Bello Gallico as one of the wines most worthy of the imperial table, still embodies today the elegance and strength of Sicilian winemaking tradition.
To the eye, Mamertino Rosso presents a deep ruby color with garnet highlights. On the nose, it expresses a broad, refined bouquet with hints of ripe red fruit, floral notes of orange blossom and jasmine, accompanied by citrus and almond nuances. Delicate aromas of fresh herbs then emerge, along with a subtle mineral note that testifies to its territorial origin.
On the palate, it is warm, round and dry, with lively acidity and balanced salinity. The fruity and floral fragrances perceived on the nose reappear in the mouth in a harmonious and persistent way, giving a long, pleasant finish.
Perfect to accompany red meats, roasts and grilled dishes, it also pairs beautifully with aged cheeses and full-flavored dishes.
