Mini Pasta Reale by Biscottificio Mocciaro is an artisanal Sicilian confection made with 100% organic almonds grown in Sicily. Also known as Martorana fruit, it is created through a patient and meticulous process that lasts five days, respecting natural resting and drying times to achieve an exceptionally high-quality product.
This traditional handmade method begins with preparing the dough, followed by a 24-hour resting period to make it firm. The mixture is then shaped and left to dry further. Each piece is hand-painted, often with multiple layers for multicolored fruits, and finished with detailed touch-ups and final polishing. Every step requires precision and care, resulting in a product that is both visually stunning and uniquely delicious.
According to tradition, Martorana fruit was first created in the Martorana convent in Palermo, where the nuns crafted realistic fruit shapes from almond paste and sugar to decorate the monastery for a papal visit. Today, this centuries-old art continues through Sicilian craftsmanship, bringing to the table a sweet treat rich in history, fragrance, and authenticity.
